Update 27th August 2021-

In these uncertain times, and after today’s announcement of remaining in Alert level 4 for a further 4 days, the Hawke’s Bay Hundy will be cancelled for 2021.

Originally, the Hawkes Bay Hundy would still go ahead in an alert level 2, however, after almost two weeks of preparing for this potential outcome, the organising committee has come to a hard but final decision to cancel.

The Kaupapa of the event is “It takes a team, you don’t go through it alone”. If we were to push ahead with the race, there would be major restrictions in place, that would take away from our Kaupapa.

I want to thank you for your support, and hope that you will continue to support the Hawke’s Bay Hundy when registrations open next year.

I also want to take the time to thank the sponsors that have come on board for 2021- Mediaworks, The Hastings District Council, Flex Fitness Havelock North, Jarks Restaurant, Craft and Hern Sports Hawkes Bay, Weleda, Savebarn, Higher, Raisey’s, My Ride – Taradale and Hastings, CookieTime, and Telfer Young.

And a big thank you to all the supporters that make this event possible- The Napier City Council, The Hastings District Council, The Hawkes Bay Regional Council, The Department of Conservation, The Hawke’s Bay Airport, Bayview Fire Station, Napier Fire Station, Haumoana Fire Station, Havelock North Fire Station, Hastings Fire Station, Te Mata Park Trust, James Joll, Havelock North Primary School, St Johns and the event staff and volunteers who were signed up to help on the day.

Thank you to all the teams who have fundraised for the amazing charity STAROS. The Givealittle fundraising page will stay open until 25th September. At that time, the top three teams will receive medals for their fundraising efforts. The top team will also receive a free entry into the Hawke’s Bay Hundy 2022.

Keep Saturday 24th September 2022 pencilled into your diary for next year’s event.

Thank you again, and stay safe.
